T-Man and other people familiar with the waterways in and around Lafitte, where are the best fishing spots in that area? I finally have my Louisiana Fishing License and Keith and I are going fishing this weekend and we are launching out of Lafitte. Any answers and comments would be very greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.
I would go and fish Bayou Dupont at the south side of the Pen, try the first three or four bends in the bayou. You can drift the Pen with a popping cork and sparkle beetles for trout. These spots keep you close to the launches in case bad weather pops up, and you have no choice but to get out of the rain and the lightning. Live bait is not necessary, but you may do better with it. I usually just fish the plastic.
Your best bet would be to go early, and leave early. The weather does not look promising.

Thank you T-Man. We ended up trying several spots. We went behind Manilla Village and went to about 10 minutes out of Grand Isle and we went to the Texaco Canal. All I caught was a 2nd and 3rd degree SUNBURN!
I think that Keith should have followed your advice, would have at least caught some fish.
Apologies that I took so long to inquire how y'all did!! LOL!! ;D Yep! Shoulda took T-man's advise. The southeast shore of Bayou Dupont usually holds lots of fish. I have caught specks, reds, and bass there. Take some sunscreen along next time out!! ;)

coffeecups: Came home to Harvey from Slidell. Had a little rain here and there. There was no rain in Slidell when I left at 3:30pm. While in NO EAST, I saw where it looked like it was storming around Covington going towards Slidell. Wet but no rain when I got home

coffeecups: ps I guess the memory of that snow is probably the only winter that I will get.

coffeecups: Somewhere around 1956 and 1958 it snowed so much that I thought I was in a blizzard. Of course I was only a child then, but the memory of that has NOT been met or surpassed.
