The Tchefuncte River below Madisonville has many bank fishing spots, as does Bayou Lacombe below Lacombe, on down to where they enter Lake Ponchartrain.
A pirogue, kayak, or Flatstalker and a paddle can really increase your catch ratio per cast and time spent.
The same thing goes with the Pearl River Delta along US Hwy 90 near Slidell (West Pearl, Middle, and East Pearl. The channels run under the road in several places between Slidell and the Mississippi State Line.
Don't forget to bring sunscreen and plenty of insect repellent, and maybe one of those 8x8 pop up shade tents and a folding chair to get out of the sun. Keep an eye out for "undesirables" out there in the middle of nowhere. I keep a pistol in my pocket out there.
You never know when you may encounter a big snake, or worse. Goodluck out there.
I have done a lot of fishing on the north shore in the past 40 years.
Wow...that is a lot of awsome advice!! I appreciate it more than I can say. It is such a different world for fishing here, and I have never known where to start. Thank you very much!
We used to love to fish for large and small mouth. I know they only have the large here, but it used to be sooooo much fun. As soon as the baby is out of the hospital, I am going to check it out. Thanks again!
