Yes, I remembered this day... I was backing my VW Bug on the driveway to go to work. I then put my brakes on my car before getting to the street. Holy moly, my VW slid off the driveway. :o After my Bug stopped sliding around abit and my panic attack eased, I just simply drove it back onto my driveway and went inside into my jammies watching the local news giddy about the weather all morning.
I remember 1989, I have pics at my parents, let me see if I can get them so that I can post them.
Before there is a repeat of 1989 first you need a 1060mb Siberian High to come across the pole then the PNA to at least get to neutral, I do not see it yet. But, yes, colder wx coming down over the next couple of weeks. Persistent troughiness over the western US continuous, that is why the snow bust for next week happened.

Damn. Y'all were 13 in 1989? Ouch. I was in my first year of law school, was thrilled that my criminal law exam was postponed and spent the day drinking and watching people slide around on the ice. I would love a repeat of 1989.

I enjoyed a new sprinkler system.... in my garage that year! I went and got an electrician friend of mine who had a portable band saw, we went shopping for the piping and connectors, and beer, and cut out the offending pipe and spliced in the repair and stayed warm with the ice-cold beer! :-)
My parents lost a couple of citrus trees and several palm trees. I had a Chinese Tallow tree that froze back and took two _years_ to come back. What a mess.

coffeecups: Came home to Harvey from Slidell. Had a little rain here and there. There was no rain in Slidell when I left at 3:30pm. While in NO EAST, I saw where it looked like it was storming around Covington going towards Slidell. Wet but no rain when I got home
